Maximizing Savings on Bulk Shipments – A Guide

A huge, and often neglected, part of sneaker resale (and resale as a whole) is shipping. Even when shipping several boxes together, prices can add up to $10 per pair of sneakers on a box going across the country, which takes a significant chunk of the profit that resellers rely on. This is a comprehensive guide to shipping more cheaply and efficiently to put money back in your pocket.

1. Boxes

The first (and perhaps most crucial) part of any shipping process is selecting a box. Generally, the larger the box, the less you’re going to pay per sneaker. The Uline 20x20x20 box fits 10-11 pairs in it, and the boxes themselves are as cheap – $3.50 per box. A 20x20x20 box is significantly (about 40%) cheaper to ship at the same weight than an XL Home Depot box, which is 24x21x20:

I know, that doesn’t make a lot of sense, that’s just the way it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2. Labels

Labels need to do two things: be cheap, and get your package where it needs to go. Most labels will get your package where it needs to go, but the hard part is finding the least expensive label without shipping 5,000 boxes a year to get a bulk discount.

There is now an option to get the bulk discount that giant companies like eBay and StockX use, no matter how many labels you buy. Copyt Shipping does that for you with the cheapest labels in the business. Yeah, yeah, it sounds like a marketing ad, but we can back it up:

For the 20x20x20 / 40lbs shipment going from California to Pennsylvania, below are the rates offered by some of the most-used companies in the sneaker industry.

Shippo ($69.14):

Pirate Ship ($119.43, discounted to $75.14):

Sire ($69.14, discounted to $62.23):

And as you saw before, Copyt ($51.41):

We wish you the best of luck with shipping and maximizing profits this winter season!
